Budget Experiments

I've gotten a lot of budgeting tips over the last few years. Some of them are common-sense, some are a bit odd, and some are just extreme (or they have to be in order to save money).

To figure out just how much money I could save by applying these "tips," I started doing experiments. The following is a list of those experiments, updated periodically to let you know how much I've been saving (or not saving).

We've all heard about the "brick in the toilet tank" trick to conserve water, but does it really work and will you really see your water bill go down?

This falls under one of those "common-sense" tips, but I wanted to know how hard it would actually be to stick to the rules and not go grocery shopping for "that one ingredient."

I wanted to know if these tips really worked & if so, how much does it really effect your bottom line?
